Chapter Member Spotlight - Barry Broussard

The motorcycle bug began at a very early age for me. I got my first mini bike at the age of 10. I was a huge Evil Knievel fan and I believe every little kid wanted to be like him. Over the next few years, I had Yamahas and Hondas until I went to college and sold them all. I have always been a huge Harley Davidson fan, but could never afford to buy one. It wasn’t until 2014 that I purchased by first Harley. It was a 2013 CVO Breakout. I kept that bike for a short time since I wanted to do more long-distance riding. I then got a 2014 Street Glide Special. I rode this bike for about 3 years, but always admired the CVOs. I knew one day, I would eventually get another one. So last summer, I upgraded to my third Harley and purchased a 2018 CVO Road Glide. I love my bike and have enjoyed it this past year!

I have been on several trips on my bikes over the past few years. I have been to North West Arkansas and rode the Pig Trail, Tennessee/North Carolina and rode the Tail of the Dragon, Smoky Mountains, Natchez Trace Parkway, Cherohala Skyway and the Blue Ridge Parkway. I have also ridden to Texas, New Mexico, Colorado, Wyoming and South Dakota. I made my first trip to Sturgis, SD in 2015 for the 75th Anniversary. This was an awesome trip but due to time, I trailered my bike and for the next 3 years, always regretted not riding there. So, this past year, I had the opportunity to ride to Sturgis with a couple of close friends. This was one of my bucket list rides and I was extremely happy to ride there. It was an awesome ride! I have also been to Daytona Beach Florida for Daytona Bike Week.

My next bucket list rides will probably be riding to the North East Coast and riding the Pacific Coast Highway in California. My hope is that I can do some scenic trips with my wife as she has only ridden short rides around the local area. We are planning on doing a ride together this Fall, but not quite sure where we will go.

I became a Cajun HOG chapter member in 2014. The chapter has some awesome rides and events! The best part about being a member, is the comradery and being around friends that have like interests with you. I have met some great friends in the chapter and wanted to become more involved. This year, I was given the opportunity to become the chapter’s Membership Officer. I am extremely excited about this role and look forward to making an positive impact for our Chapter and Cajun Harley Davidson! I look forward to meeting existing members as well as welcoming in new members, while developing lifelong friendships!
