Chapter Member Spotlight - Jimmy & Sarah Brown

I have been riding motorcycles since I was 4. About two weeks after my dad took the training wheels off of my bicycle, he brought home a Yamaha YZ50, the YZinger. I got my first street bike when I was 15. A Suzuki GS650. I appreciate all manner of motorcycles, but since that first inline 4, I have preferred V-Twin cruisers. I’m on my 12th off-road bike, and my 12th street bike. Sarah started riding when she met me in 2002.

I’ve ridden 43 of the lower 48 (I still have the Northwest to knock out). I’ve ridden to/on the PCH, Hoover Dam, Key West, Deals Gap, Niagara Falls, Sturgis, and others. I’d have to say my favorite, so far, has been the Peter Norbeck Scenic Loop in the Black Hills. This loop includes Needles Highway and Iron Mountain Road. I love the mountain scenery, rapid changes in elevation, the drop-offs, and the hairpins. Sarah’s favorite trip was hitting all the monuments around Sturgis. I think I have two ‘bucket list rides’. One is to hit the corners of the US in a single loop. Another, probably more realistic for the near future, is to ride Route 66 straight through, from Chicago to LA. Sarah’s first real trip was in 2004. A 4,000 mile loop to Niagara Falls! What a trooper. Before that, her longest ride was the Little Sturgis Rally in north Mississippi.

I have held all kinds of jobs. From lawn service & building maintenance, to retail & auto sales, to A/R & medical billing. I’ve been working on and with computers since high school, and I turned that into my primary occupation in 1999. Remember ‘Y2K’? I own and operate TeamLogic IT, an I.T. Franchise, since 2006. We support business’ computer systems and networking needs. Sarah worked at the Children’s Museum of Acadiana after she graduated college, and she has been in medical records for the last 15 years.

A few of my other hobbies include hunting, shooting sports, building things (carpentry, puzzles, and Legos), and a fan of all things Star Wars. I am also a Concealed Carry Instructor doing private classes. I love challenges, and I’m a bit of an adrenaline junkie, in case that wasn’t painfully obvious. Sarah loves to go camping and vacations with family.

I received my initial ‘automatic’ HOG membership when I bought my Breakout in August 2019. I was hesitant to get too involved, because of a less than stellar experience I had with an RC I helped start in the 90s. I didn’t start making any ‘club rides’ until after I knocked out Cajun Corners, Louisiana Dealers, and Louisiana State Parks. We finished those up in November. We started riding the weekend HOG rides in December 2019. We rode our first ‘overnight’ with the group to Natchez in February 2020. Sarah became an ‘official’ associate member in July 2020, when I upgraded to a Lifetime membership. As silly as it might sound, my favorite thing about the club rides are going to and seeing places I wouldn’t have done on my own. Pair that with meeting people with similar interests, and building friendships, makes it a win/win all the way around. I look forward to meeting more of you as time passes!
